Creative Soup Get-Together
On Sunday, June 8, Creative Soup contributors Frank Crowley, Mary O’Connor, Jen Payne and MaryAnne Siok met for the first Creative Soup Get-Together. Sitting in the shade by the water in Stony Creek, the four enjoyed lunch and embarked on a vibrant two-hour discussion about all things creative. “It was exciting to see how the conversation fed itself,” said Jen, “from what we do and how we do, to what inspires us and what we're working on. It was exactly what I hoped we'd do!” Mary O’Connor agreed, “It got me re-inspired to tackle my book with new energy!”

Word of Mouth
Word of Mouth Open Mic and Featured Poet of the ALL (Arts and Literature Lab) monthly celebration of the spoken word is now the THIRD THURSDAY at a new space: 847 Chapel St. in New Haven upstairs at the YMI Young Mens' Institute - one of the first private libraries in the country founded back in the 1830's. When you enter, it feels and looks like a mobius time/warp trip back to the 19th century. Click here for more information.
Visit to I-Park
On Sunday, May 4, Creative Soup contributors Doug and Gemma Mathewson and Jen Payne enjoyed an Open House at I-Park in East Haddam, Connecticut. This 450-acre retreat provides artists, writers, musicians and other creative souls a chance to explore their work more deeply as artists in residence. At the Open House, Doug, Gemma and Jen had the opportunity to see mixed-media collage work, listen to poetry, watch several digital animations, and hike through the trails at I-park to see some outdoor sculpture.
