I dressed to the "nines", wore my son's snazzy, felt fall hat and tooled into New Haven for the 10:00 a.m. ceremony on the steps of the New Haven Town Hall this historic morning. It could have been any civic celebration with Old Glory covering the facade, but the balloons were white; the roses were red; and there were no "blues". Marriage equality for us gays and lesbians blossomed as the front doors opened, the AP cameras rolled and the six, special couples paraded down the steps to cheers and applause!! I took a couple of crowd photos and hugged my brothers and sisters; I felt a wave of well-being settle in my soul. Connecticut has done the right thing for us, and I am grateful. Lots of home-made "thank-you Connecticut!" signs popped up for the cameras. |
