WITH GRACE

Spring approaches so gracefully. Slowly, we mark the change. Small buds on the trees. Winter coat tossed in the front seat of the car. The magnolia in bloom. The grand unfolding of green. All so subtle we hardly notice, and then, there she is...Spring in all her glory stepping out from Winter's shadow.

Nature's change is all around us. Moment by moment, we grow older--hardly recognizing the quiet differences in our movements, our faces, our perceptions. Gracefully, she transforms the day, moving shadows gently across the landscape until they disappear into the night. Magically, we dance across the galaxy, passing planets and stars with barely a notice.

I often wish I could welcome change as gracefully. Inhale its liberation and embrace it. Instead, my reaction lines more with a comic book scene...*BAM* , *ZAP*, *PUNCH*, *POW*. And I sit weary with a blanket of anticipation and fear and excitement .

Can I open my arms to change? Can I be graceful despite feeling systemically wobbly? A voice inside reminds...

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change
courage to change
the things I can
and wisdom to know
the difference.

Graceful.
